ABOUT DFEO

The Downey Foundation for Educational Opportunities (DFEO)is a 501c3 non-profit, providing before and after-school enrichment programs for Downey Unified School District's TK-8th grade students. DFEO's Programs provide an academically enriching, health-conscious, and safe environment dedicated to developing youth voice and leadership, active and engaged learning opportunities, and enhancing social-emotional growth of program participants, at little to no cost to parents. The goal of the Foundation is to expand on our mission and provide an equitable, affordable, and accessible program.

In the summer of March 2021, DFEO embarked on a mission to serve with just 8 dedicated employees and a humble cohort of 200 children in their summer program. Fueled by the profound needs of the Downey community and the unwavering support of parents, the Foundation has blossomed into a catalyst for dreams, now touching the lives of over 2,000 students. The DFEO team, now a resilient family of 200+, has passionately crafted a place to go, offering a safe and enriching environment for students before and after school.

Every dollar raised from this golf tournament is a lifeline for DFEO’s mission, destined to weave dreams and carve pathways for the youth of their community. It's not just about programming; it's about creating possibilities, bestowing opportunities they might never experience otherwise, and nurturing aspirations through scholarships. They are sculpting a future that resonates across every facet of their Downey community.
